Desert Bar near Parker, AZ
We took Bill and Veta Swires, our friends from Illinios out to the Desert Bar. We drove north from Yuma on US 95 through Quartzsite to Parker, AZ. You turn off the main highway and weave your way 5 miles on a dirt road, bouncing over rocks through the desert to get to the Desert Bar. It is only open Saturday and Sunday from noon to dusk in the winter months.
In the center of the parking lot is the words narrowest church.
Helicopter rides are available for $45 from the Desert Bar. I think this would be a better way to get to the bar so you didn't have to bounce 5 miles on that rough road.
The draw to the Desert Bar is the great bands he books to play. There is always lots of food, drink and music.
We managed to snag one of the tables on the upper level with the band.
The entire place is off the grid and run on solar energy. Solar panels and battery banks are everywhere. They generate enough power to run everything from the amplifiers to the friers.
Bill and Veta enjoy the view from the upper level. Note the narrow church in the background.
One of the highlights of the place is the open air windows in the women's bathroom that look out over the desert as you wash your hands.
As you can see the place is aways full of people having a good time.
It seems like there is something happening every day here in Yuma and Cocopah RV and Golf Resort. Becky is enjoying her golf games and we spend Wednesday's with the Escapee Boomers. The weather has been wonderful staying in the high 70's to low 80's during the day and 50's at night. It is a great place to be spending the winter.
