Covered Bridges and LaBella Winery

Thursday, Sept. 25, 2014
Littleton, MA
Minuteman Campground
We started our last day in the Boston area with lunch with Lori, Hannah, and Jake Basnett before they went off to their jobs.

We had asked about seeing any covered bridges in Massachusetts, so Lori did her homework and found 3 covered bridges close by in north Mass. and New Hampshire.  After lunch we headed out in search of the covered bridges with a stop at Springdell Farm.  Lori is a member and picks up her weekly produce from the market.
It is also open to the public and has wonderful produce.

The scarecrows were fun.
We especially liked the bumblebee scarecrow.

Our first covered bridge was in Pepperell, MA.  This bridge was built in 1879 but replaced in 2010.  Lori said that this road was closed for 2 years while they rebuilt the bridge.

This was a covered pedestrian bridge in Brookline, NH.

A fun view through the bridge.
This bridge was in a residential area near Merrimack, NH
Rob had a day of plumbing workshops in Manchester, NH so we decided to meet him for dinner at this winery in Amherst, NH.

Definitely not the same grapes as you see in California.
Interesting Colonial chandelier
LeBella Wines.  We really liked some of their wines.  They had a selection of cooking wines that included a JalapeƱo wine that would be really good in a Bloody Mary.
Becky and Lori enjoyed their tasting.

The grounds were beautiful.  The sun came out and we enjoyed sitting on the patio enjoying a glass of wine while we waited for Rob to get there for dinner.  Lori and Rob treated us to another fantastic dinner.  I swear Lori got lessons on how to get the check from Jarvis Hazen.  Maybe it it is an inherited trait.
This was our last day in Massachusetts as we head into Maine tomorrow.
